The Department of Politics has an outstanding international reputation for the high quality teaching and research excellence that it offers. We have a long tradition of attracting large numbers of international students from all parts of the world to our study programmes at both undergraduate and post-graduate level. This reflects the wide range of global and international political science sub-disciplinary fields the Department engages with. We highly value the rich diversity of our student body and do everything possible to ensure we provide an outstanding experience for all our students.

The results of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) confirm the Department's status as a world class centre for the study of politics. The detailed assessment of the quality of published outputs and research environment ranked the Department first equal amongst all politics departments in the UK with 75% of research graded in the top 4* (world leading) and 3* (internationally excellent) categories.
