Director: Ms Sheila Webber

Ms Webber is a Senior Lecturer, Director of Learning and Teaching in the Department, and an Academic Fellow in the Centre for Inquiry Based Learning in the Arts and Social Sciences (CILASS). She has been Principal Investigator for Information Literacy projects funded by the AHRC and the Higher Education Academy. She is a member of the SCONUL Working Group on Information Literacy, part of the European Forum for Information Literacy and has been invited as an expert in the field for 'Education and Learning' of IL to be part of the European team preparing for the UNESCO-sponsored World Conference on Information Literacy. She has been an invited speaker on information literacy in many countries, including Australia, Canada, France and Germany.

Deputy Director: Professor Nigel Ford

Prof. Ford is the Information School's Director of Research, and heads the Department’s Educational Informatics Research Group. His research interests focus on information seeking and information behaviour, and in particular the relationship between these and a range of human individual differences including cognitive styles. He has directed a number of research projects in these areas, funded by the DfES, the British Library and the AHRC. He has published widely in the field, and has just published a book Web-based Learning Through Educational Informatics (IGI Publishing).

Professor Sheila Corrall

Prof. Corrall is the Information School's former Head of Department and Professor of Librarianship & Information Management. She was instrumental in establishing the SCONUL Task Force on Information Skills (now the Working Group on Information Literacy) which developed the Seven Pillars Model of Information Literacy and chaired the CILIP Expert Group on Information Literacy which formulated the CILIP Definition of Information Literacy. She was an invited member of the IFLA Presidential Committee for the International Agenda on Lifelong Literacy and has given invited keynote and other addresses on information literacy at many professional conferences and meetings.
