And a huge congratulations to Holly Bradley, from Caterham School, who has been crowned this year’s winner! Holly impressed the judges with her essay on ‘Has German history followed a ‘special path’ (sonderweg)?’, and has won £100 with her entry.
Also, a big well done to Lucas Kirk, from King Edward VI School, and Amira Braar, from Bootham School, who were both named runners-up, and have each won £25.
As always, we had a large number of entries from across the entirety of the UK. Essays covered a range of themes and eras, and included topics such as ‘Was Alfred the Great great?’, ‘Does childhood have a history?’ and ‘Was the First World War the first ‘global’ conflict?’. The standard of essays was excellent, so thank you to all entrants who took part this year and made the judges’ decision difficult.
Holly, Lucas and Amira should be very proud of their achievements.
