Sheffield Confucius Institute & Goldsmiths Confucius Institute Joint Language Activity

As part of exploring and expanding it's language exchange activities, the Sheffield Confucius Institute held a joint language-exchange activity with Goldsmiths Confucius Institute in the virtual hang-out platform, Gather!

SCI and GCI language exchange - Gather

As an integral part of the Confucius Institute’s activities, the Sino-English Corner (SEC) provides students from a variety of degree programmes and members of the public learning English or Chinese with opportunities to practice their target language and learn more about the target culture.

To kick off 2021, the Sheffield Confucius Institute (SCI) and Goldsmiths Confucius Institute (GCI) joined forces for an exciting language exchange event!

The event took place on the innovative online platform, Gather, in which participants explore a video-game style virtual space and chat with other participants throughout.

SCI & GCI Language Exchange

The online event included an interesting discussion on the North-South divide, a classic debate in Britain and China too! Participants shared their insight and opinions on this interesting topic and interacted with each other using the unique virtual platform.

The activity also included a multiple-choice quiz, consisting of two rounds, on North-South differences in China and the UK.

Participants thoroughly enjoyed the quiz and it gave everyone a chance to learn something new about the North-South language & cultural differences in both countries.

Staff and students from both Confucius Institutes joined, as well as regular participants of Sheffield's Sino-English Corner and Goldsmiths Sino-UK Corner.
