Applying and deadlines for the Study Abroad Programme
The way to apply for a place on the Study Abroad Programme is to complete an on line application form.
Depending on whether you are an exchange student or sponsored/ independent fee paying student, the process is slightly different. Please read the relevant section that applies to you.
Please download the Application Notes to the right of the screen. Please ensure you read these very carefully before submitting your application.
Exchange students

Step 1
Your home University MUST officially nominate you via our on line nomination form.
Step 2
Shortly after your home University has nominated you, the International Exchanges Unit will send you an email with the web location of the on line application.
Please keep checking your email for this information.
Step 3
You must complete the on line form and then you will need to scan and email the following documents to the International Exchanges Unit at ieu@sheffield.ac.uk

DO NOT SEND ANY OTHER DOCUMENTS THAN THE 4 LISTED BELOW
SEND ALL THE ITEMS BELOW IN *ONE* PDF FILE, DO NOT SEND SEPARATELY
- Up to date transcript (original and in English)
- Reasons for applying (outlining the reasons why you wish to study at the University of Sheffield. Max 1000 words)
- One academic reference (must be from someone who teaches you an academic subject)
- English Language Proficiency certificate (TOEFL or IELTS) – only if English is not your first language
DO NOT SEND ANY OTHER DOCUMENTS THAN THE 4 LISTED ABOVE
Application deadlines
We recommend that you apply as early as possible to ensure that you receive all necessary information in good time.
You must complete the on line application PLUS scan and email all of the above documents to ieu@sheffield.ac.uk by:
1 May (for full year and Autumn (Fall) semester students)
1 October (for spring semester only students)
Please note that your home University may have an earlier deadline for completing applications, please check with the relevant members of staff regarding their internal application process.
Sponsored or independent fee paying students
