Secured By Design is a security initiative which works alongside the UK police service. It aims to reduce crime by working with architects, developers and planners to improve the security of buildings and incorporate crime prevention techniques in the layout and landscaping of its surroundings.

This gold Secured By Design award is testament to our commitment to ensuring a safe and secure site for our staff, students and the wider University community.

Richard, who works closely with Secured By Design and other police departments, said: “This gold Secured By Design award is testament to our commitment to ensuring a safe and secure site for our staff, students and the wider University community.

I’m thankful to the team at Secured By Design and our contractor on this site, Kier, who have been supportive of our efforts to provide a high-quality, secure site."

Since the Secured By Design initiative was introduced, the UK has seen crime reductions of up to 87 per cent on new developments like the MRI-PET facility.
