Launched in November 2021, the NIPP aims to expedite the evaluation and adoption of promising innovations that facilitate post-pandemic healthcare delivery, bolster service resilience, and enhance patient outcomes.
The partnership of ARC and HIN in Yorkshire & Humber, involving SCHARR’s CURE research group, delved into the evaluation of Unscheduled Care Coordination Hubs (UCCHs) as part of their contribution to the program. UCCHs represent a critical innovation in providing timely unscheduled care within the community, catering to patients with immediate care needs who are at risk of ambulance transfer to hospitals. These hubs offer the potential for swift and appropriate care in proximity to patients' residences, thereby mitigating unnecessary hospital admissions and reducing ambulance wait times.
In addition as part of this work, Professor Suzanne Mason from CURE was a guest on episode 54 of the Health Innovation Network Health Innovation Podcast which explored the topic of reducing impact on hospitals.
