Research Interests
Individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) perceive the world differently to individuals without ASD and a range of evidence indicates that ASD is associated with atypical perceptual processes. My primary research goal is to understand the nature of perception in ASD. Much of my current research work uses the technique of
EEG. Further detail of my research work is given on the Sheffield Autism Research Lab (ShARL) web-page. Underlying this work on autism is a general interest in understanding human attention and perception, and a motivation to gain insight into these processes by developing a greater understanding of the neural signals that are generated during perception.

Teaching and administrative duties
I am the module organiser for PSY101 (Discovering Psychology) and PSY323 (Cognitive Neuroscience). I am undergraduate admissions tutor – with a responsibility for mature student applications, post-graduate tutor, and disability liaison officer. Within the Psychology department I am a member of the Research committee, the Post-graduate Affairs Committee and the Research Ethics sub-committee. Within the Faculty of Science I am a member of the Equality and Diversity committee. I am the director of the Sheffield Autism Research Lab.
