Molecular Biology and Biotechnology is one of the largest and most successful departments in the University of Sheffield.
We conduct leading edge research in molecular aspects of biology, as well as offering a wide range of exciting courses and opportunities for both undergraduates and postgraduates.
Our teaching received 24 out of 24 from the last Quality Assurance assessment, which is a very rare accolade indicating an outstanding quality of teaching.
Top rated research
In the Research Assessment Exercise for 2008 we were ranked in 3rd place in the UK (Source: Times Higher Education). We have a large research school, with over 80 research students and 57 postdoctoral researchers, and we publish about 200 research papers per annum.
