Entry requirements for students from Botswana

We have been welcoming students from Botswana for many years and our staff are very familiar with the Botswanan education system and qualifications.

High entrance requirements for our degree programmes at Sheffield reflect the quality of the University.

For Entry to University of Sheffield Science and Engineering Foundation Programme

Holders of Cambridge Overseas School Certificate with 75% average or above and high grades in Maths and Physics will be considered for direct admission to Science and Engineering Foundation programme.

The minimum score that is accepted for entry is IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 80. Some departments may require a higher score

All applications for Science and Engineering Foundation Programme should be made through UCAS.

For Entry to Undergraduate Programmes e.g. BSc, BA, BEng/ MEng

A variety of qualifications can be considered for direct admission to undergraduate bachelor degree programmes. All applications for undergraduate programmes should be made through UCAS.

A Level

Applicants with a minimum of 3 A levels will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes.

International Baccalaureate

Applicants with a minimum of 28 points will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes.

Other Qualifications:

Higher Certificate (Part 1) holders with 75% average or above will be considered for direct admission to the first year of undergraduate programmes.

Higher Certificate (Part 2) holders with 75% average or above will be considered for direct admission to the second year of undergraduate programmes.

For Entry to Postgraduate Taught Programmes e.g. MA, MSc

Holders of a good masters degree from the University of Botswana will be considered for direct admission to postgraduate diploma or masters programmes.

For Entry to MBA

Holders of a good masters degree from the University of Botswana and at least 3 years´ post-graduation work experience will be considered for direct admission to the MBA. Applicants must be at least 25 years old by the time the programme starts.
