NV President Lena (she/her) and vice president Summer (she/they) take you through the new society team that represents Dutch Studies at Sheffield. All you need is an interest in Dutch language or Lowlands culture!
How did we get here?
Hoi, Lena here, I started Dutch at Sheffield having absolutely no idea what it was going to be like. But as soon as I started it was clear that this was going to be the best part of my experience at Sheffield. It made complete sense to want to be a part of Dutch society this coming year because since Fresher’s Week 2022 the people I’ve met and the experiences I’ve had (in and out of the classroom) have been amazing. I study Linguistics and French alongside my Dutch (but Dutch is my favourite)!
Hi! I am Summer and I will introduce the rest of this year’s committee!
Sophie is our secretary and is in charge of keeping an eye on our emails as well as many other important things like room bookings for our events! She studies Dutch alongside French and Spanish!
Dan is the treasurer who makes sure that all our finances are in order, especially in some of the bigger events like the SLC Ball! Dan studies Urban Planning and takes Dutch as an extra module.
Luca is our Inclusions Officer and their job is to make sure that everyone has a voice this year. Whether it’s accessibility or general support, Luca has it covered. Luca studies Dutch with German!
And last but by no means least we have Lottie our Publicity Officer whose job it is to make sure everyone is up to date on our events via our social media. This year we hope to make our social media both educational and interactive and that’s all thanks to Lottie! She studies Linguistics and Spanish with her Dutch.
Our aspirations for NV this coming year!
- Create an inclusive environment that means that everyone gets the most out being a part of NV this year
- Celebrating 75 years of Dutch studies at Sheffield as much as we can!
- Host a range of different events; some educational, some less so
- Nurture the love we have for our society and pass it on next year

You can find out more about joining at the SU Activities Fair on Thursday the 20th which starts at 10:30 and finishes at 4. We hope to see lots of you there!
