Latin for ‘take care of the earth’, Cura Terrae is made up of three market-leading environmental businesses: Ecus, Environmental Monitoring Solutions (EMS), and Envirocare.

Sheffield Civil and Structural Engineering alumni, Prof. Peter Skipworth, will head-up the group as CEO, leading with a firm focus on sustainability issues.

“It has never been more important to help our clients understand and comply with environmental regulations," he says, as Cura Terrae aims to help clients "manage their carbon output, improve air quality, minimise urban flooding, or protect the delicate balance between development and the environment.”

Ecus, the largest member of the group, was founded in the department 30 years ago. Specialising in holistic approaches to UK infrastructure, they have recently acquired Northern Archaeological Associates as part of their continued growth.

Cura Terrae’s mission is to offer services and solutions to help take care of the Earth, and help our clients work towards a more sustainable future. I believe the formation of this group brings together the skills, expertise and passion needed to achieve our shared goals.

Prof. Peter Skipworth

Collectively, the Cura Terrae group now employ around 240 people, with this number is set to increase to 300 this year amid strong growth and investment by Palatine Private Equity.

The formation of Cura Terrae is also notable due to several prominent appointments within the group having completed studies in the civil and structural department, including Dr Kieran Williams (EMS Managing Director), Dr Sonia Ostojin (Head of Product Development), and Dr James Huntingdon (Smart Wastewater Business Unit Manager).
