Our MSc courses have been approved by the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Structural Engineers and the Institution of Highways and Transportation. This counts towards chartered engineer status. Our geoscience and environmental engineering short courses have been endorsed by the Geological Society for training towards continuing professional development.

In the initial results of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (published 18 December), all of our research was assessed as being "Internationally Recognised" and 85% as "Internationally Excellent" or "World Leading".
