Description

Sustainable Development is generally understood to mean development that meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. To date, emphasis has been placed on environmental concerns but it is now recognised that these concerns must be balanced with social and economic impacts. This unit aims to develop knowledge and skills in students to enable them to effectively apply engineering to improve the environment, promote sustainable development and protect natural resources. This unit has been developed in collaboration with the Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor of Engineering for Design Sustainable Development.
