LAW6148   EU Migration Law in Comparative Perspective   (15 credits)

Year Running: 2016/2017
Credit level: F7

Description

This module offers an advanced, law-in-context treatment of selected themes in immigration law. It focuses on the law of the European Union. However it endeavours to contextualize relevant issues in a broader international scenario and considers for these purposes elements of Member States domestic law, as well as that of the United States and Canadian. The module is organised around three broad themes: the law of admission, the rights of immigrants and long-term integration and access to citizenship. For each theme it proposes a possible theoretical framework. It examines relevant laws and policies, and considers their concrete application through case studies.
