Description

This module provides an advanced treatment of questions of federalism and multi-level governance in the European Union, by using Economic and Monetary Union, and Cohesion Policy as case studies on the application of relevant principles. The module examines the dynamics of economic and monetary union, particularly in the aftermath of the financial crisis and the mechanisms of cooperation between the EU and the Member States in the context of EU cohesion policy. It considers governance structures and models of federalism underpinning these dynamics and mechanisms, as well as implications for contemporary debates on the nature and prospects of the EU.
