Profile

Lewis joined the department in October 2022. He was awarded his PhD by Sheffield Hallam University in November 2022. His thesis explored the intersection of history and security in Sino-Japanese relations.

He teaches International Relations to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, with a particular interest in teaching International Relations theory and International Security Studies.

Lewis is passionate about inclusive teaching practices and pedagogy,  employing innovative methods to engage and support students.

His current research considers the illocutionary logic of securitisation in Chinese protests and whether this constitutes a new grammar of securitization applicable elsewhere.
