Parking

Parking Services deals with the management of campus car parks as well as general travel options. Find visitor parking information, student residence parking and permit parking applications.

Parking applications

Car parks around the University are for permit holders only, with different permit types available. Staff and students must apply for a permit before bringing a vehicle onto campus.

Permits run concurrently with the academic year starting from 1 October to expire at the end of September. You will need to apply for your permit annually unless it has been issued for an extended period, e.g. disabled parking permit.

Some car parks are temporarily closed or have limited spaces - check the map.

Existing permit holders can manage their account details via our permit system.

Permit applications for 23/24

Please note that we are not currently accepting applications for category B permits.

Other permit types and parking offers are available on campus, residences and at Samuel Fox House, as well as a range of sustainable travel initiatives.

Parking on central campus is in high demand and permits are criteria based. Certain permit types have limited availability and may not be available to new applicants throughout the year.

If you wish to discuss specific parking requirements, including contractor parking, event parking, or if you are returning from long term sickness or maternity leave, please email parking@sheffield.ac.uk.

Permit applications for 24/25

Note that students do need their full University IT account in order to make a parking permit application. New students receive their full student IT accounts from the beginning of September and we will open the 24/25 academic year parking permit applications in late August.

Please see 'Applying for parking permits and permit types' below for further details and to make your application.
