Profile

One of the UK’s most sought after guitar teachers, Jamie’s former students can be heard playing with high-profile acts across the music industry, including Everything Everything, Cinematic Orchestra, Roller Trio, Bryan Ferry Orchestra, Led Bib, The 1975, The Bootleg Beatles, Simply Red, and Submotion Orchestra. Also amongst these alumni are some very successful solo artists, such as the internationally acclaimed guitarist and songwriter Bruno Major, who studied 1-to-1 with Jamie for several years.

Between 2007 and 2009, Jamie was Course Leader for Jazz at Leeds College of Music, before stepping down from the position to devote more time to his
playing career. Jamie maintains a busy performing schedule himself, having worked with leading musicians across a range of styles, such as Sheryl Bailey, Roni Ben- Hur, Baptiste Herbin, Steve Fishwick, David Lyttle, Richard Iles, Laura Jurd, Sebastiaan DeKrom, Geoff Gascoyne, Matt Fishwick, Tori Freestone, Jim Mullen, Alan Barnes, Richard Hawley, and The Pigeon Detectives. Now a Hofner Artist, he has toured the UK on a number of occasions, featured on recordings for the jazz labels Candid and GLP, and made several television and radio appearances.

As a freelance clinician, Jamie gives masterclasses and workshops around the UK, and he has reached a considerable international audience through his video jazz guitar lessons, sold online through the American website Mike’s Masterclasses.
