We are delighted to have achieved the Runner Up 2023 National Green Impact Award for Innovation for Engagement. This award follows success in the summer of 2023, when our Green Impact Team was awarded Gold for their work on a range of projects and essential actions. In addition, the Team was presented with a Special Award for Innovation for Engagement, thanks to their work to improve communications and engagement around sustainability.

The programme has collaborated with over 500 organisations including hospitals, museums and councils. Green Impact can help to bring about long-term, positive changes within an institution.
Our Green Impact Team consists of both professional services and academic staff, devoting their time and energy on a voluntary basis to assist our sustainability goals. The team was founded in 2019 and has overseen projects such as making the Management School’s grounds a more appealing place for local wildlife, a staff book swap and a variety of wellbeing, fundraising and community initiatives.
Professor Fraser McLeay, Interim Dean at Sheffield University Management School, commented “I would like to thank Jacob Bush, Digital Marketing Officer for the Management School, who led on the team’s actions and submission for this award. He established a departmental Green Impact inbox, and shared regular staff and student communications about the work that the team does throughout the year. Jacob worked with two Student Content Creators, Ariel Habed Saballos and Hannah Topliss, in creating short videos for social media about how to be sustainable on a student budget."
Professor McLeay added, "This award shows that other organisations, such as the UN, recognise the significant contribution that staff and students are making in having a positive impact on working lives, organisations and societies worldwide, fostering socially responsible management practices through world-class, innovative research and transformative education.”
