300 miles closer to a cure for MND

Janette Allen challenged herself to walk 300 miles - the distance from Edinburgh to Sheffield - to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease Research at the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN). She's now exceeded her target and smashed her fundraising goal! Well done, Janette!

I chose Motor Neurone Disease Research at SITraN because I was inspired by Doddie Weir, Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield. We are now much more aware of people being affected by this dreadful disease. I simply wanted to make a contribution and help raise funds for SITraN for their ongoing research.”

Support Janette with a donation today

Janette started walking at the start of January 2024. She has been enjoying walking around the Lothian regions near her home Dalkeith, near Edinburgh. The distance of Janette’s walk is equivalent to her walking from Edinburgh to Sheffield!

Anyone taking on a challenge should choose their charity, prepare their story, and aim to complete your goals. Be well organised, focused, and enjoy the experience. There will be hard days, good days and fun days... remember, all donations raised will truly touch someone's life. Oh, and definitely invest in a good pair of walking boots!”
