Matlab Maintenance
Annual Maintenance Fee
CiCS pays substantial annual maintenance charges for Matlab, and if you buy Matlab via CiCS we charge an annual contribution towards these costs (currently £40 per installation and per toolbox). This applies for as long as you continue to use it, regardless of the version you are running, and whether or not you choose to upgrade. CiCS will email you each January when payment is due for the new calendar year.
CiCS will email you each January, when payment is due for the new calendar year. If payment is not received by 31 March, you will be removed from our licensing scheme, and Matlab will stop working.
The Matlab purchase price (currently £80), covers maintenance for the remainder of that calendar year. However, those purchasing on or after 1st October, will not have to pay their first maintenance fee until the January over 12 months later.
Software updates
CiCS is usually supplied with two software updates per year, and provided you have paid your maintenance fee, we will email you to offer you a free DVD of the new version each time one becomes available. This will continue until you let us know you no longer need them or cease payment.
Contact details
When placing any Matlab order to CiCS (vendor 9022) it is essential that you supply the user´s name and email address in the Vendor text of the Internal Trade Order. This enables us to contact all Matlab users when updates become available.
Matlab Users List
To ensure our Matlab contact list is kept up-to-date, please email cicsadminsupport@sheffield.ac.uk to inform us of any user changes (e.g. when Matlab is passed from one student to another in a research group).
Would you also let us know if you no longer wish to use Matlab, so we can remove you from our user list.
Back-dating Matlab Maintenance
Maintenance payments will not be back-dated, so if at any point in the future you want to use Matlab again, you will have to buy the latest version.
