Sheffield University holds the site and floating licenses for various commercial software products to help support research. There are also a number of free software items we use and recommend.

There is also a scheme for joint purchasing of software, negotiated on behalf of all UK universities, by CHEST.
Chest Web Site lists all software that has been subject to negotiations and can be purchased by the participating universities at the preferencial rates.
