Iceberg HPC Cluster
iceberg is the name of the Linux based High Performance Computing Cluster at Sheffield University.
Its mission is to meet the intensive computing requirements of research projects at Sheffield University and provide 'cloud computing' capabilities within the campus.
NEWS FLASH :: Iceberg is upgraded
Latest upgrades to the iceberg cluster will see the introduction of 76 more 'Intel-based' nodes along with faster connections between the nodes and also faster access filestore for the users. Although the official launch period is planned for April 2012, sufficient amount of the integration work have already been done to allow us to start moving some of iceberg's load onto the new workers. Current iceberg users can experiment with moving their work onto the new nodes by following the instruction on starting to use iceberg.
You can follow the upgrade work via the blogs of our systems administrator Anthony Brookfield.
