Practice
Our practice is located close to the Northern General Hospital in a large modern building. We serve a population of 8,000 patients with high levels or medical and psychosocial morbidity.
Primary Care Team
We currently have 5 Doctors, 2 Nurse Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses, and 2 Health Care Assistants and aim to offer a wide range of services including minor surgery, acupuncture and IUCD and Implanon fittings. We also have to name a few of our attached staff, 1 Counsellor, a Physiotherapist, an Occupational Health Advisor and 2 IAPT workers.
We have a friendly, helpful and supportive admin team which consists of a Practice Manager, an IT Administrator, one secretary and 8 reception staff who all help contribute to the smooth running of the practice.
Surgeries/Appointments
As well as routine pre-bookable appointments the practice has a system whereby a Duty doctor leads triage each week day morning. The Duty doctor deals with all urgent appointment requests, any visit requests and any other issues where a patient may be requiring advice rather than necessarily an appointment at the surgery.
The doctor triages the patients into the appropriate and necessary appointments i.e. nurse led minor illness clinic or an urgent Duty doctor appointment or in some circumstances is able to offer help and advice through a telephone consultation.
Training/Meetings
The practice is fortunate to have a regular protected weekly meeting session every Wednesday lunchtime. Meetings range from significant events, audits, palliative care or journal club as well as meetings for the entire team including practice meetings.
The practice is dedicated to training and all members of the practice team are committed to helping and participating in this.
Our trainer Dr Sarah Jones joined the practice in June 2007 but was previously a trainer in her previous Rotherham practice for 3 years. We also have 2 F2 Trainers at the practice, Dr S D Lupton & Dr D A Parker, and have a long history of training in Sheffield.
We believe Norwood offers a fantastic opportunity for Registrars wanting to work in a well established and supportive team and see a broad range of medical care.
