The Practice

The main practice premises are at our purpose built site on Dykes Hall Road which is situated close to the Hillsborough shopping area and was opened in 1985. The practice covers most of S6, extending North West to rural S35 (Oughtibridge/Grenoside). In addition the practice has a branch site which is situated 2 miles away in lower Stannington. This is a purpose built surgery opened in 1991 and serves the Stannington and Malin Bridge area of S6. The practice population totals 9,600 patients.

Training

The Practice has been an F2 training practice since 2005 and has for many years been a student training practice.

Dykes Hall Medical Centre was approved for GP Registrar training in August 2009. The GPR trainers are Dr Liz Cooper and Dr Steve Thomas, who are both currently also undergraduate tutors at the University and have both been involved in F2 and student training within the practice.

There has been a long history of Medical Education at Dykes Hall and Deer Park, with past and existing Partners having worked at undergraduate tutor and Senior Lecturer level within the University of Sheffield's Academic Unit of Primary Care.

The design of your training programme will be organised to meet your needs and you will be expected to take an active role in the management of our patients´ health. Your trainer will work with you to establish how best to fulfil those needs. A comprehensive Induction Programme for your first two weeks with an agreed timetable for your working pattern across both practice sites will be given to you in advance.

Refer to Form B, weekly and educational timetables available in the Downloads section opposite - please note the timetables are examples only and is subject to revision.
