Assessments

During your training placements you will complete workplace based assessments (WPBA) as well as preparing for the external MRCGP examinations – the Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) and the Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA). Your progress will be monitored at least yearly by an Annual Review of Competency Progress (ARCP) Panel.

The MRCGP is an integrated assessment system and trainees must successfully complete the 3 components outlined above (WPBA, AKT and CSA) in order to obtain a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice. The CCT is the licence to practise as a GP in the NHS.  For more information about GP Training and the 3 assessments, visit the RCGP website via the link in the See Also section opposite.

On joining the programme, you will be assigned a GP Trainer as your Educational Supervisor (ES) for the duration of your training -  educatinal supervision is a process of regular meetings between teacher and learner with support for the benefit of the learner.  For more information about educational supervision arrangements in South Yorkshire, visit the Yorkshire & The Humber Deanery website via the link in the See Also section opposite.
