Remuneration of Senior Staff
The University's Senior Remuneration Committee determines on appointment and reviews from time to time the remuneration and benefits of the University´s senior staff including the Vice-Chancellor, as well as Pro-Vice-Chancellors, the Registrar and Secretary and the Chief Financial Officer. Decisions are made in the light of performance and the wider market for recruitment and retention. The Committee also establishes guidelines for the remuneration of professorial staff and equivalent staff, and approves overall costs of any recommended increases.
The Vice-Chancellor is the only member of University staff on the Committee, other than the Committee Secretary. Decisions regarding his own remuneration are made by other members of the Committee only, with him not present at the meeting.
The Senior Remuneration Committee reports to the University Council and is Chaired by Mrs Kathryn Riddle, Chair of Council. The membership of the committee consists of the Pro-Chancellors, the University Treasurer and the Vice-Chancellor. The total remuneration of the Vice-Chancellor is published annually in the University accounts.
