I'm Lucas and I'm a 4th year German with Dutch student. I'm also your elected Councillor for Germanic studies 2011/2012! If you have anything to do with the German department (German, Dutch or Luxembourgish) then I'm here to represent you so please get in touch with me about anything and everything to do with the University, the Union or anything else about your student experience. What's good? What's bad? What ideas do you have that could make being a student here at the University of Sheffield better not only for you but all of your fellow students as well? Change can and does happen and you can be a part of that!
Other than represent you I'm also here to let you know what the other Councillors and I get up to so please check out my facebook profile where I post news, info and events that are important to you as a Germanic student. http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=100003135976297
So far this year I've been getting involved with council as much as possible and not missed a meeting or abstained from a vote. I've been to 2 conferences so far so as to be the best representative I can be, the NUS organised Activism 2011 at Goldsmiths Union and a course rep conference here in Sheffield. I've also attended the student protest against increased tuition fees and cuts to higher education in London on November 9th and was one of the students who delivered the giant card in remembrance of the death of higher education to Nick Clegg's constituency office on the anniversary of the vote to raise tuition fees (I got interviewed for ITV news but unfortunately didn't make it to the big screen). Great fun so far.
