Hello! My name is Poppy and I am in my third year of English Literature. I am very happy to have been elected the English Lit and Theatre councillor for 2011/12 and am looking forward to representing the department! I am also Activities Secretary for the fantastic English Society and have a passion for anything related to F. Scott Fitzgerald. I am approachable so feel free to talk to me in lectures or drop me an e-mail (eltcouncillor@shef.ac.uk) if you have any issues you would like taken to council. I'm also on Facebook as 'SheffieldUnion English Lit Councillor' so feel free to add me. There is also a list of your Literature course reps for this year on that page so if you have any ideas about improving the department, do not hesitate to contact them!
I look forward to hearing from you :)
New from Union Council:
-After a petition brought to council, a new sub-committee are working on campaigning for a Living Wage for all full time staff at the university. It has been calculated at £7.20 an hour and would make a huge difference to the lives of over 300 employees. You can get involved by signing the petition here:

-Since presenting my proposal to council, the constitution has now been changed to allow Dual students to vote for Union councillor candidates in every department in which they are registered!
New from the English Undergraduate Staff-Student Committee:
-The next meeting will see an overhaul to the structure of the SSC, seeing more lecturers in attendance and having a lot more student control. Course reps will now have the opportunity to chair meetings and take minutes. If this sounds like fun, consider running for a course rep position next year! Represent your year and get your voices heard!
-An IT specialist is being employed to help the department's move from using USpace to Mole 2 a lot easier.
-The personal tutor system is being improved! Making them more available and accessible for you.
New from the English Postgraduate Staff-Student Committee:
-Claire Roper (ELL Councillor) and I have been working hard to improve Postgraduate representation within the department and Union. We have already aided the creation of a brand new representative position on English Society and are working alongside the GSSC to get people more involved in council meetings and understand our role as councillors. More updates on this coming soon!
-The Postgraduate Colloquim is now organised for this year and is happening on May 21st. Get involved:
