The student officers are eight students, elected by the whole student population, who work full time at the Students' Union for a year.
What to speak up for Sheffield students within the NUS?
Sheffield Students' Union is a member of the National Union of Students and that means that our members have a right to have a say in how the NUS is run and what its priorities should be.
Each year the NUS holds a number of democratic conferences that decide its policies for the year ahead and select the Liberation Officers, Vice-Presidents and President.
Sheffield is represented at these conferences by our elected delegates. These are elected at the end of semester 1 each year.
| Conference | Elected Delegates |
|---|---|
| NUS International Students' Conference Delegate | Krissy Meyer |
| NUS Postgraduate Students' Conference Delegate | Tom Dougall |
| NUS Women's Conference Delegation | Amy Masson & Sarah Charlesworth |
| NUS LGBT Conference Delegation | Mat Denton, Jon Gleek, Jenny Poulton & Max Brophy |
| NUS LGBT Conference Trans Delegate | Mark-Anthony Tuffe |
| NUS Disabled Students' Conference Delegate | George Lindars-Hammond |
| NUS National Conference | Result delayed due to an appeal against a Returning Officers' decision |
NUS conference is the highest decision making body in the NUS and is attended by over 1,200 delegates from every affiliated Students' Union in the country.
The Liberation conferences make decisions in relation to specific groups of students and are semi-autonomous within the NUS.
