Who are the Student Officers?

The student officers are eight students, elected by the whole student population, who work full time at the Students' Union for a year.

I WANT CHANGE!

Why Should I Vote?

Voting is really easy (click here to be taken to the voting page) but if you need a reason why you should, here are 5 of the best:

1) Students' Union Officers will make a difference to your student experience

The Students' Union Officers will make a significant impact on the student experience here at the University of Sheffield. As all the candidates have different ideas on how to change the student experience, it is important that you pick a candidate whose ideas are similar to yours.

2) Your vote really can decide the result

Students' Union elections are very competitive and every vote counts. The result can often come down to a few votes so your vote really could decide the election. Unlike national elections, no result is a fore-gone conclusion, which is why the candidates are all working very hard to secure your support.

3) We use a fair voting system, making sure every vote counts.

We use the AV voting system, which means that every winner must receive the support of over 50% of the voters. With AV, you can say who your second, third, etc. favourite candidate is - perfect if you want to support more than one candidate.

4) The Students' Union Officers play a key role in improving the quality of the University

Even if you are graduating, next year's officers will impact on how the outside world values the quality of your degree. The officers will work hard to ensure that the University (recently named University of the Year!) maintains its excellent reputation amongst the public and employers.

5) It is simple and could make a big difference to students' lives

Even if you can't see a benefit for yourself, all the candidates have shown a great deal of enthusiasm, passion and determination. By taking a few minutes to vote, you could help them achieve their goal: making a difference to the lives of University of Sheffield Students. The more students who vote, the stronger the Students' Union's voice will be in representing students.
