The student officers are eight students, elected by the whole student population, who work full time at the Students' Union for a year.
My name is Mathy and I'm running for Students' Union Council Disabled Students' Councillor.
As someone with a physical disability, I've had my fair share of problems related to my disability, but I'm still standing strong!
I want to increase awareness of the difficulties disabled students face (in terms of attitudes towards them and accessibility of the campus), and increase inclusiveness across the university.
I will work hard to represent the views of and be a contact point for disabled students, so that together we can create a positive change.
So vote Mathy, for inclusive disability representation!
My interest in seeking election is to encompass the varied needs of people with disabilities and to increase access to all aspects of university life. I would like to set up groups to enable disabled students to contribute more to the growth of the university during their time of study. I will always ensure I am available for those wanting to voice any issues they may have, with an intention to actively promote these.
In partnership we can succeed.
Do you sometimes struggle to make your disability understood – I can be your voice
Do you often make do because for fear of drawing attention to yourself - don't, I can be
your frontman...
Do you have a hidden disability which poses difficulties but are not appreciated - let me
highlight it for you...
Are you an international student and not sure how to engage with the system – I will
engage it for you...
Are you a mature student too embarrassed to make a fuss – don't be, I am a mature
student and already voicing concerns on a number of disability issues, I can voice yours
too...
Are you a parent student with a disability or perhaps your children has a disability – help is
at hand
