Students' Union Development Officer Nominations Extended

Nominations for Students' Union Officers closed at 12noon today with 35 candidates standing for election, our highest number of candidates for five years.

However the newly entitled Students' Union Development Officer position received no nominations. We are therefore extending the nominations window for this very important role until 12noon Monday 13th February.

The role is a regeneration of the current Finance Officer role with an added emphasis on developing new services at the Students' Union. It's their job to represent students' views on the services the Students' Union offers. Watch current Finance Officer, Harry Horton's view of the position, and see the full job description, here.

No prior experience is necessary to nominate yourself and, if successful, will undergo training to equip you with all the skills necessary to be a brilliant officer. All you need is a passion to make change in our Students' Union to enhance the lives of students.

To nominate yourself complete our online nominations form before 12 noon this Monday 13th February.

Your SU Candidates Revealed

The students' standing for election to become one of your Students' Union Officers next year (and fill our vacant Council positions this year) will be revealed this Friday. You'll be able to read more about what they are standing for and see their candidate videos from Monday 20th.

Over the next couple of weeks you'll be able to discover more about your candidates, their views, and policies online, and through events at around the Students' Union:

SU Elections Question Time

Monday 20th February, Interval Café Bar, from 19:30

Come down and watch your SU Officer Candidates as they take to the stage for the first time. They'll be making a short speech and answering questions in the hope of securing your vote. It's a tense yet fun evening.

SU Elections Candidates Debate (in association with Forge TV)

Thursday 23rd February, from 12:30

SU Officer Candidates come together for an interactive debate which you can join in with live online. Streamed live to the Forge TV Facebook page, this is the perfect chance for you to quiz the people wanting to represent you next year.

Introducing 'Vote Match'

This year, we're hoping to further inform your voting by introducing 'Vote Match', an exciting new way of seeing how your opinions match those of our candidates. Complete 20 questions and we'll show you how your answers compare with theirs. Try it from Mon 20 Feb.

Are You For Or Against?

As part of the SU Officer Elections, you will also have the chance to vote on Referenda; changes to the Students' Union's big policies and rules. This year there are 4 referenda to vote on:

• University Relations with Arms Companies
• Anti-Racism/discrimination/hate crime
• Nestle
• Constitutional Review 2012
• NUS Affiliation

You'll have the opportunity to vote for your Students' Union Officer candidates, referenda and vacant SU Council positions (specific groups only) right here from 10:00 Monday 27 February - 17:00 Thursday 1 March.
