The student officers are eight students, elected by the whole student population, who work full time at the Students' Union for a year.
'Ideas Forums' are a chance for any student to put forward their ideas for making the Student Experience at Sheffield better.
If you've got any idea for something new or something that you think needs to change, complete the form below and you'll be able to put your idea forward.
The Ideas Forum is split in to three sections, all meeting at the same time.
The three forums are:
Ideas that would make the educational experience of students at Sheffield better.
This could be a suggestion about the way that courses are taught, the way you get your feedback on your work or even the buildings you study in. Your ideas will shape our work with the university and help us put together campaigns for change that will benefit students.
Ideas to make you students’ Union better.
You might want to suggest a new service you think we should offer, or maybe you want us to change the way we do things in our shops and bars? You could also suggest a change to the way we make decisions or the way that Clubs & Societies operate. Your ideas will help us to make sure that we offer things that you want, in the way that you want. It will also help to come up with new ways to engage with our members and make decisions.
Ideas to improve the city and the wider world.
Students at Sheffield are a key part of the city and it's important that we speak up for students in the local community and ensure a positive relationship with community groups. You might have an idea for a new project we could run in the community or an idea for a campaign for change from the local council.
Students have also always been key to social change locally and around the world. If you feel that your Students' Union should take a stand a big national or international issue this is the place to put your idea forward!
Each idea will be discussed at the relevant forum to give students a chance to say what they think and make their suggestions. After this the idea may be taken up and adopted, the idea may be added to the next agenda for Students' Union Council or a petition may be started to show the support for the idea and bring about change.
The forums are a place for non-confrontational debate. They are not about winning and losing, they are about discussing ideas and coming up with what's best for students at Sheffield.
