New for 2013

  • A New Vision for Your Students' Union Our Strategic Plan 2012 - 2016 will put us on the path to becoming recognised as a leading Students' Union: Exciting, Dynamic and Student-Led. Take a look at our display in the Gallery area from Monday 4th - Friday 8th Feb and find out more about our plans and how you can get involved.
  • Inspiration & Co The first of six mind-expanding, student voted Inspiration & Co talks will take place from Wed 6th Feb. The talks are free to all University of Sheffield students, but please book: www.inspirationand.co.uk
  • Spring Into Nature Spring Into Nature is Sheffield Students’ Union’s campaign to help wildlife and promote the benefits of biodiversity, in Sheffield and beyond. We’ll be running activities throughout Semester 2, and look out for Spring Into Nature week from 29th April to 5th May- it’s going to be big!
  • Adopt a Charity When fundraising with RAG, societies, sports clubs and committees can claim back up to 50% of their total for their club/society. Email adoptacharity@sheffieldrag.com
  • Societies Takeover Societies Takeover is a brilliant opportunity to check out the array of societies and committees that we have at Sheffield Students' Union!. This year it's totally FREE!
    Taking place on Wednesday 13th Feb from 7-11pm, there will be interactive games and activities in the Gallery, the Activities and Sports Zone will have a stage for all kinds of performances and Coffee Revolution will be hosting society stalls and serving food and drink throughout the evening!
  • Varsity is back and it's bigger than ever! One of the biggest student sporting competitions in the country, Varsity is back this year and who will win: Uni or Hallam? Touching down on Saturday 2nd Feb with American Football and finishing with the grand Football final at Hillsborough Stadium on Wednesday 13th March, Uni needs your support! Tickets go on sale soon but keep an eye out on www.varsitysheffield.com or tweet your support with the hashtag #suvarsity
  • Student Eats: Summer Volunteers Needed! The Student Eats community garden is a fruit and veg garden at Endcliffe Village, run by students, and it's only just been installed this year! The project really needs volunteers to look after the garden who are going to be here over the summer... so if that's you please get in touch
  • Books to sell? Books to buy? Use our free online book exchange to sell any unwanted academic books or find ones to buy for your course
  • Red Tent As part of Women's Week (Mon 11th - Thu 14th March), the Gallery Eye will be transformed into a Red Tent - a space all about periods. A comfortable place for all self-defining women, there will be soft cushions, hot water bottles and tea, as well as massage, yoga and workshops. This is a space like no other; challenging taboos around monthly cycles and learning about the movement of menstrual activism.

  • 3,500+ tickets sold for the FLASH! series of events
  • 11998 meal deals sold at The SU Shop
  • 250 students attended the national demo in London
  • 250 students kitted out their kitchens using re-used free stuff at our first ever Bring It Don't Bin It Free Shop in Intro Week
  • 1 Bee Hive started to create our own Students' Union Honey!
  • 10,725 views of our Zombie short film for Halloween, created by and starring our students
  • 54 applications to form a society so far this year!
  • 500 RAG Reps signed up
