AREA PLANS
Activities
- Distribute Forge Press via commercial outlets in student areas.
- Expand the Society Volunteering programme and pilot a youth engagement scheme for Year 10 pupils from Sheffield Volunteering linked schools.
- Prepare a strategy on how student groups can contribute to enhancing relationships with Alumni, working with the working group.
Central Services
- Ensure all areas are available and accessible for use.
- Staff and managers involved in exchange of knowledge – eg) job swap, induction into areas.
- Advertise Students' Union events using staff, in departments for all staff and members.
Children's Services
- Publicise student parents' online community.
- Organise regular social events and working parties.
- Play scheme online booking and updates and internet connection to the schemes venue.
Commercial
- Showcase events – e.g. BBQ, Xmas day, Fair trade, GIAG – Commit to developing new events of this type.
- Cross promotion of other Students' Union events – e.g. sell Society tickets in Bar One for Raynor Events.
- Co-ordinate with the Alumni project group to engage with Alumni office to explore generating a range of events that best capture the former student market.
Democracy & Representation
- Work to facilitate and enable our representatives to communicate effectively and regularly with those that they represent, and vice versa, allowing for increased democratic involvement, improved democratic legitimacy and greater accountability. Ensure Students' Union representatives' views are heard within the organisation as a new digital media strategy is developed.
- Work to connect representatives, campaigners and those interested in democratic activity together through existing networks/events/ groups and new initiatives if necessary.
- Review and develop our work in the University residences to promote the work of the Students' Union - beyond the campus.
Entertainment
- Continue to provide a wide range of diverse entertainments events, as per departmental business plan.
- Continue to promote Students' Union events beyond the campus, attracting non-student and Alumni users from across the region.
- Work with Marketing Department in developing a future digital strategy, in particular generating ways to broadcast suitable media content relevant to events.
Marketing
- CRM SYSTEM – investigate CRM system possibly connected to the University alongside loyalty card research.
- RESEARCH – membership affinity research looking at how student engage with the Students' Union.
- DIGITAL STRATEGY – set up a cross organisational group who meets quarterly to look at what's on the horizon. This group would be responsible for putting forward proposals on how to digitally move forward.
Resources
- Participation in department showcase events.
- Review jargon/language used.
- Participate in the working group to identify an agreed framework for mid-term aims of the digital strategy.
Corporate
- Establish a working group to consider and develop relationships with both the Alumni Office and alumni direct. The working group will include marketing, entertainments, activities and student officers.
Student Advice Centre
- Use of web: ensure website is regularly updated with new information, publish a blog, provide Instant Messaging opportunity to contact Student Advice Centre, best student money saver podcast competition, enable students to access some services online. Working with the Students' Union digital strategy group.
- Develop promotional strategy for SAC to increase awareness, encourage student committees to use SAC receptionists as point of contact.
- Increase cross-departmental working.
