Student Representation

Student Representation is really important at Sheffield University, here at the Students’ Union we work hard to make sure that you’re well supported and represented across the University.

Find out more below about who represents you in your department, faculty, residence and at the Union.

Student Officers

Eight students are voted in each year to oversee the running of the Students' Union fulltime.

Students' Union Council

In each department a Councillor is elected to represent the students in their department at Students' Union Council.

Course Reps

Course Reps are students who volunteer to represent the academic needs of students within their department.

Faculty Reps

Faculty Reps are Course Reps who volunteer to represent the views of students in their faculty to the University.

Union Link

Union Links are students paid by the Union to create a link between the Union and their department. Union Links work closely with Course Reps and Councillors in their department to ensure that academic issues, welfare issues and concerns highlighted by students are brought to the attention of the Union.

Community Reps

Community reps speak on behalf of all students in their residence and provide effective communication links between students and ACS.

NUS

The National Union of Students represents the interests of around five million students, including those who are members of the University of Sheffield Union of Students.
