One word: shopping. The city centre is where all the high street clothing stores are based.. Sheffield also has loads of vintage shops. Sheffield’s City Hall is a fun night out – the venue hosts concerts and comedy gigs with many famous faces taking to the stage in past years. For more intimate gigs, check out on Division Street. The city centre is the place to go for awesome nights out as this is where a lot of the cheap bars and clubs are: West Street has loads of cheap bars too. The free annual music festival Tramlines takes place in venues throughout the city centre – hint: get there early as it can get extremely crowded. Fright Night – one of Britain’s biggest Halloween parties – has loads of attractions and stalls from street theatre and ghost tours. The event is held every year on the Sunday before Halloween. There are loads of local coffee shops and cafes that are definitely worth a visit too, especially on Division Street. NM
Most City Centre accommodation is a very short walk from the University, rolling out of bed and into lectures and back again is certainly a plus of living so close to campus. Also on your doorstep is West Street and the Devonshire Quarter which offer a rich variety of bars, pubs and clubs for you to choose from, as well as being very close to Sheffield Student's Union. Ditto with restaurants and cafes, whatever you feel like doing, it's sure to be not far away. FG
