Broomhill

Broomhill is Crookes’ southerly neighbour, and also contains a burgeoning student population. On its borders lies the Sheffield Botanical Gardens, a personal favourite for revising in the summer sunshine, a beautiful location. Plus, when that work gets too much, you lie safe in the knowledge that Broomhill is home to some superb student pubs. MS

Broomhill is a very popular leafy suburb, home to students and locals alike. Students of all ages love it here, as it is not only the location of many student houses, but is also very close to both the Endcliffe and Ranmoor student villages, as well as being only a ten minute walk from most of the University buildings and Sheffield Student's Union. This has meant that there is an excellent student atmosphere here, and a good experience in their first year often means that many students decide to stay in Broomhill if they rent a house, of which there are many of a good quality to choose from.

Broomhill itself plays host to many cafés, restaurants and pubs, which is ideal for picking up a sandwich on your way to lectures and going out for dinner and a few drinks. There are also various independent shops, from gift stores to fancy dress shops, health food shops to beauty salons. Combine this with an array of hairdressers and food shops and Broomhill has everything you need, you can kit out your bedroom, get a makeover, go food shopping and buy your presents without having to go any further.

However if you do want to venture out and into town for example, there are also several bus services that offer student fares that run through Broomhill, and one of these also runs to two big supermarkets. The community feel here ensures that local residents and students live very happily alongside each other, with events running throughout the year for you to get involved in. FG
