Problems with fees
What happens if I don’t pay my fees?
You will not be able to graduate or to enrol on your next year of study if you owe the University tuition fees. If you don’t pay your tuition fees, the University can ultimately expel you. The University will take debt recovery action against former students who have a fee debt.
What can I do?
If you have having problems paying your fees you should talk to an adviser at the Student Advice Centre. You should also inform Registry Services (Edgar Allen House, 241 Glossop Road, S10 2TG) that you are having difficulties. It may be possible to arrange an instalment plan to help spread the cost of your fees throughout the academic year.
Can I get help from the University?
Your department may be able to consider a fee waiver, but this would usually be offered before your course starts. The Access to Learning Fund cannot be used to pay fees and the University does not give loans to students to help them to pay tution fees.
There are trusts and charities but be aware that many of these will not give money towards tuition fees. If you cannot pay your fees, you may need to consider taking a leave of absence and returning to your studies when your financial situation has improved.
