Bringing your family to the UK

You can  bring  your family to the UK if taking a postgraduate course which is over 12 months long, or you are a government-sponsored student on a course of 6 months or more under Tier 4.  If your visa was issued before 31 March 2009 different rules will apply.

If either you or your family member is from the European Economic Area different rules will apply.

If you want to bring any family or friends to the UK for a short visit they will need to apply for a visitor's visa.

  If you get married or enter a civil partnership here in the UK your partner will need to return to his/her home country to apply for entry clearance.
