Working part time as a student
Many students will work part time during their studies. It can be a useful way of supplementing your income and improving your transferable skills.
The university recommends that you don’t work more than 16 hours per week during term time.
Finding part time work
The university Careers Service has a Jobshop that advertises vacancies and offers support and guidance when job hunting. They have vacancies you can search online and you can visit the Jobshop in the Students’ Union.

After your studies
The Careers Service offers help and support with your career planning. You can speak to a Careers Adviser to help you plan and direct your search for work and there is a variety of resources available for you to use.
The Careers Service administers the Skills for Work Certificate programme that can help you demonstrate the skills you have gained to prospective employers. There is also the Sheffield Graduate Award that you can work towards during your studies.
