An external company took all the research and data that we have ever executed and pulled together themes, patterns and trends. This was then presented as a Prezi document below.

As part of the Strategic Review project for Sheffield Students’ Union Red Brick Research ran six online focus groups on Wednesday 14th December 2011. The groups were composed as follows:

  1. Undergraduate Final Year students
  2. Undergraduate Intermediate Year students
  3. Postgraduate students
  4. Undergraduate First Year students
  5. International Students
  6. Mature and part-time students

Students and staff were asked to fill in our 'Shape the Future' questionnaire and let us know what they thought of the Students' Union, what they wanted from it, and how they thought it should change in the future.

We ran 9 open source style sessions in total where all staff (permanent and casual) were invited to attend a session. The sessions took place over 3 days 5th to 7th December 2012.

The discussion topics we used during the sessions were:

  1. Academic Support and Employability
  2. Fees Impact
  3. A Sense of Community
  4. Role of the Students' Union
  5. Processes (Funding / commercial turnover, governance, SU / University relationship, Estates / finances, Environmental policy, people / HR, Technology / IT, Vision 2012, Culture, ethics amp;& values)
