Available Projects

This project is designed to give postgraduate research students the opportunity to complete research projects to further the development of their students' union and to support their own personal development.

Each year the Student Officers will commission a number of research projects focused on student engagement in learning and teaching and student representation. The projects available will be listed below and advertised through an email and on the Announce system in MUSE.

Only students registered on postgraduate research course at The University of Sheffield may apply, unless stated otherwise in the project description.

Ideal skills of applicants:

  • Experience of undertaking large qualitative and/or quantitative research projects.
  • Experience of writing research reports and proposing solutions based on findings.
  • Successful completion of research methods training.

Information for Applicants:

  1. Read the project information and pick a project you are interested in.
  2. Complete the online application form for the project you wish to apply for
  3. After the deadline, we will invite some applicants for an informal chat about the project, before deciding who to recruit as the researcher
  4. The successful researcher will then be required to meet with relevant SU staff and complete a more in-depth research design
