Engaging Postgraduate Researchers as Researchers

This is the website for the Higher Education Academy/National Union of Students Student Engagement Project for postgraduate researchers, which ran from September 2011 – January 2012.

The project aims to provide research students with the opportunity to complete research projects to further the development of the students' union and support their own personal development. All research will have an underlying focus on understanding student engagement with learning & teaching and student representation.

This website is an online hub for researchers and potential projects. The Representation and Democracy Department will work with Student Officers and staff of the students' union to develop useful research projects during the year. These will then be displayed under 'Projects Currently Available' on the 'Information for Researchers' page. If you are a research student interested in completing a listed project then follow the links to submit your application form.

Through this we hope to:

  • Strengthen Postgraduate engagement in the students' union
  • Provide opportunities for PGR students to enhance their research skills
  • Build an academic hub for student engagement research
  • Increase the research capacity of our students' union
  • Deepen understanding of student engagement
  • Facilitate research projects across the campus

If you have any questions about the project please email the Representation and Democracy Manager, Tom Langrish, at Tom.Langrish@sheffield.ac.uk.
