Who are the Student Officers?
The student officers are eight students, elected by the whole student population, who work full time at the Students' Union for a year.

Description
Imagine an Arab country, whose population lives in squalor in refugee camps, suffering under a brutal occupation by a foreign government, a foreign government whose brutal military rule replaced that of a previous colonial occupier.
The Western Sahara was illegally occupied by Spain until the 1970s when Moroccan and Mauritanian imperialism replaced the despotism of Francisco Franco with their own.
The Sahrawi population has suffered a brutal and illegal occupation and apartheid ever since, its legitimate representatives in the Polisario Front treated like terrorists.
We the undersigned call upon the Sheffield University Student Union to:
1) Inform our members about the background of the occupation of the Western Sahara
2) Lobby our university to divest itself from and terminate any contracts with companies that are complicit in the occupation of the Western Sahara.
3) Support the Western Sahara Campaign UK
