The award scheme is supported by the NUS and aims to provide recognition to some of the amazing students who are involved in RAG activities at universities around the UK and further afield.
The Best Event award recognises examples of excellence in event delivery from any RAG in the UK and looks for: evidence of excellent planning processes involved in organising the event, value for money, safety, the ability to overcome problems and first-rate publicity. This year over 300 students hitchhiked from Sheffield to Vilnius, Lithuania!
The Community Impact award recognises the benefits RAGs bring to the local community - last year Sheffield RAG donated 82% of our £174,627 fundraised total to local causes in the South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire area.
Adam Fields, Chair of RAG for 2013/14 said "we were really humbled to be recognised nationally for both our community involvement and for having the best fundraising event, Bummit, a charity hitch hike across Europe".
RAG's plans for the year ahead are already well underway with a Firewalk and Arts Tower abseil planned for the start of term. Please visit www.sheffieldrag.com for more information. Don't forget to keep up with all the latest news and events on Facebook and Twitter:
