Careers Fair incident: statement from Students' Union Council:-
"Students' Union Council was very concerned to hear of the incident that took place at the careers fair in the Octagon on Wednesday 6th March. A peaceful protest, against the presence at the fair by arms companies, resulted in the removal by force of the protesters.
"In particular, the Students' Union Council condemned what, in its view, were the unwarranted actions of University Security at the event, in forcibly removing peaceful protesters.
"Students' Union Council fully supports the Students' Union policy on 'Fund Education Not War' and calls on the University to immediately end its links with Arms Companies. This includes divesting from investments in arms companies and not inviting arms companies to careers fairs.
"The Students' Union Officers will be writing to the Vice Chancellor expressing these concerns, reiterating the policy, and asking him to investigate the incident as a matter of urgency."
