Visa Scam Continues

A student at this university recently received a call from somone called 'Dave' who claimed to work for the UKBA. The number he called from was 0161 408 1167. 'Dave' said the student would be deported from the UK unless he paid over £2000 to sort out his visa documents. This student like many others nationally has an up to date to visa and does not need to make any changes. Fortunately the student did not handover any money and came to the Student Advice Centre for advice.

If you get one of these calls please report http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ and the University:
international.students@sheffield.ac.uk. The police have also advised students to block the telephone numbers if they receive any such calls.
